Crew Licence Validation and Conversion Across Authorities
How pilots licensed by one authority fly aircraft registered in another, and which documents flight departments must track.
State of registry rules
ICAO Annex 1 lets the state of registry validate or convert a foreign licence. A pilot flying an A7- or A6- registered aircraft on an FAA or EASA licence usually needs a validation issued by the registering authority.
What to track per crew member
Primary licence and validations; medical certificate and class; type ratings and proficiency checks; English language proficiency level and expiry; recurrent training; and security or background clearances.
